A Sunshine Coast home on a quiet, coastal street could soon be demolished to make way for eight luxury townhouses, planning documents have revealed.
Property owners, Robert and Debra Paynter submitted development plans to the Sunshine Coast Council on April 23, 2025.
The property at 18 Yinni St, Maroochydore currently features one, single-storey home, which will be demolished if the development is granted approval.
According to planning documents lodged with the Sunshine Coast Council, the development would feature eight two-storey units, five with three bedrooms and three with two bedrooms.
The report also stated each unit would include private outdoor space for residents.
“Each unit is provided with at least 19.9 square metres of private open space which directly adjoins internal living areas,” the planning report stated.
“The Type C two bedroom units are provided with 10.9 square metres of ground level private open space and nine square metres of private open space in the Level 1 balcony.”
The site will have a total of 13 car spaces provided.
Property data shows the pair bought the block in August 2022 for about $1.35m.
According to the planning report the coastal street has recently experience a boom in unit and townhouse-style developments.
“The immediate area has been a focus for infill residential development with several unit developments being recently constructed along Yinni Street,” the planning report stated.
“A recently completed two storey multiple dwelling adjoins to the south. Two storey multiple dwellings are adjacent on sites to the east.
“A retirement village adjoins to the west.”
The Sunshine Coast Council granted approval for the construction of seven townhouses at 20 Yinni St late last year.
