A wild weekend at Teewah Beach has resulted in more than 80 campers being told to pack up and leave, and more than 30 arrests amid a police crackdown on hooning and dangerous driving.

It comes after a video of a driver allegedly doing “donuts” near campsites on October 14, 2022, surfaced online, followed by a clip of them being pulled over by police.

Police said a 23-year-old Loganlea man allegedly blew 0.102, more than twice the legal limit, at Teewah Beach.

He was charged with driving without due care and attention and mid-range drink driving, and will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on November 14, 2022.

On October 15, a further 40 vehicles and 80 campers were told to leave the beach area due to hooning.

Police were also called to three crashes on the beach, which they said were all a direct result of alcohol. One vehicle crashed after allegedly performing a “donut”.

A noise direction was then issued to a large gathering on the beach, following several complaints from other campers, police said in a statement.
