A $130 million tourist attraction and resort development has reached another milestone as a start date looks imminent, despite an ongoing court appeal.

Sanad Capital has handed infrastructure plans to Sunshine Coast Council for its resort, water park and wave pool development at Steve Irwin Way, Glenview.

The council has 45 days to consider the plans for the development which was approved in early 2020.

The plans include earth and civil works, carparking, vegetation clearing and stormwater infrastructure.

The company has also appealed to the Planning and Environment Court to have its stormwater infrastructure charge, worth about $230,000, scrapped.

The appeal lodged against the council said that it was an “unreasonable” charge because there was no existing stormwater infrastructure at the site and the development would not place any additional pressure on the council’s infrastructure.

A spokesman for Sanad Capital said the company expected to resolve the infrastructure charge dispute soon.

They said they would meet with council soon to find a solution that both parties were happy with.

The development would include the Actventure waterpark, a “multi-generational” tourism resort called Invigorate and the Endless Surf wave pool.

The water park would feature a host of free fall, raft and tube slides up to 14m high and 25 thrilling rides – some not seen before in Australia.

Chief executive Bradley Sutherland told the Courier Mail in May that he expected stage 1 works to begin shortly and it could be open by Christmas 2023.

Stage one includes the 160-villa family resort, called Invigorate, the water park and retail with dining and a microbrewery.

Stage two included the eastern carpark, main entrance, ticketing booths, administration areas, retail shops, food and drink outlets and more.

Stage two works could open in early 2024.

According to Sanad $20 million has been invested in the project over five years.
