A car and a van have caught on fire and been completely engulfed by flames along two separate busy Sunshine Coast roads overnight.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said one crew responded to reports of a vehicle fire at Mountain Creek on Tuesday evening just after 7pm.

He said when they arrived at the roundabout connecting Kawana Way and the Sunshine Coast Motorway there was one car fully engulfed by flames.

“The fire was under control by 7.20pm and fully out by 7.26pm,” he said.

“It had a bit of an impact on traffic while they finalised the cooling down process.”

One crew was on scene just after 12am at Tharra Street Coolum where an unoccupied van caught fire.

A QFES spokesman said it was well alight when they arrived and the fire was out by 1.20am and left in the hands of the owner.
