Sunshine Coast man charged for fleeing Nerang crash

A Sunshine Coast man has been arrested after allegedly crashing a car on the Gold Coast while drink driving without a licence then fleeing the scene on foot.

Police charged the man following a single-vehicle traffic crash on Crusader Way, Nerang, Wednesday night, July 17.

At 11.34pm, police were called to reports of a Mazda 6 crashed into a fence near the intersection of Crusader Way and Centurion Crescent.

Police will allege the driver fled the scene on foot.

Police found him shortly and he was taken into custody.

The 40-year-old Birtinya man has been charged with driving UIL, driving without a driver's licence, driving without due care, possession of a knife, and possession of a restricted item (baton).

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today, July 18.
