A young Sunshine Coast man accused of sexually assaulting three women in public has appeared in court for the first time.

Simon Ricardo Barra Yaite, 20, appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday charged with three counts of sexual assault.

Two supporters sat with Mr Barra Yaite in the public gallery.

Defence lawyer Cherisse Brees asked to adjourn the matter for two weeks to collect supporting documents.

She said it was expected Mr Barra Yaite would enter a guilty plea.

His matter was set for a lengthy plea on February 6.

Police previously alleged the Mountain Creek man attacked three women who were exercising on footpaths in Buderim, Mountain Creek and Sippy Downs.

It has been alleged he touched the women inappropriately on three occasions at Glenfields Boulevard in Mountain Creek on September 11, Cavalry Way in Sippy Downs on October 29 and the corner of Hawthorn Court and Karawatha Dr in Buderim on November 4.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Duhig alleged in a press conference earlier this month Mr Barra Yaite filmed himself assaulting one of the women and covered his face with clothing to conceal his identity.

It has been alleged the women were picked at random and had fled on foot following the incidents.
