A father of three whose drunken antics saw him forcefully removed from a pub reacted by punching the security guard in the mouth.

Shane David Greaves arrived at the Kawana Waters Hotel at midday on June 25 and was asked to leave at 8.50pm when his behaviour became “antisocial”.

Police prosecutor Brendan Newman said the 39-year-old engaged in unsavoury behaviour toward female guests at the hotel after downing 24 beers, prompting his removal.

“Upon being removed, the defendant used a closed fist and punched the victim in the chin,” Sergeant Newman said.

“The victim felt a sharp hit to the rear of his mouth and realised he had lost a filling from his tooth.”

“It’s appalling behaviour, especially for a man who is 40 years old,” Mr McLaughlin said.

The court was told it was Greaves’ first night out after his long-term relationship breakdown.

Greaves’ defence barrister said his client was at the “point of no return” and had gravel rash after being dragged from the premises.

The Forest Glen man pleaded guilty in Maroochydore Magistrates Court to common assault while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and failing to leave a licensed premises.
