Backyards are becoming increasingly important as people on the Sunshine Coast seem more determined than ever to spend time outdoors.

Creative stylist Luke Elliott from Hello Trader in Maroochydore says when it comes to backyard trends he is seeing people seeking “a full landscape of hills and trees”.

“Everyone is quite individual but they are turning more to nature,” Mr Elliott said.

“I think the main thing I like to see is a pit fire and beautiful logs around it where you can sit at night with your family.

“And another nice thing is big open trees, like oak trees with hanging chairs underneath that you can just sit in and swing in the breeze to just relax and breathe.”

Mr Elliot also says backyards with big in-ground pools and low maintenance lawns are valued across the Sunshine Coast.

“Lawn is easy just to mow, with big trees everywhere,” he said.

“Everyone is into growing trees, like olive trees and lemon trees; something they can see develop and pick from.”

Take a look at these 10 Sunshine Coast properties with a focus where it matters most – out the back.
