Dozens of “house-sized” apartments feature in an $85m luxury complex which is the latest development at an exclusive Sunshine Coast enclave.

The timely construction of the last ever waterfront apartments in Pelican Waters has started and have almost sold out, with only a quarter of the high end homes still up for grabs.

Sales manager Marcus Muir announced construction of stage two of The Cove development owned by Henzell Property Group began on Thursday, with commercial building company Evans Built at the helm.

Mr Muir said Evans Built had proven themselves with The Cove’s stage one build, Corsica, which is now almost complete.

Comprising 15 terrace homes and 36 luxury apartments, Corsica has already drummed up $40m in sales with all of the terraces sold and only a handful of apartments remaining.

“They’ve done an exceptional job delivering stage one for us and it is compelling that all their trade base is local,” Mr Muir said.

“Being a family business, Henzell Property Group wanted to partner with someone who had a lot of alignment and they seemed to be that builder.”

The current offering now available, inspired by the namesake island getaway off the Maltese Coast, Comino is an $85m dollar project comprising of 40 Mediterranean-style apartments all with north or east water views.

The six-storey complex will offer owner-occupier styled plans and sizes ranging in price from $1.4m to $5.3m and in size from 197sqm to 511sqm for the grand penthouse.

There will be six two-bedroom apartments, 33 three-bedroom residences and the deluxe grand penthouse.

Prices start at $1.4m for apartments at the latest Pelican Waters development.

A select number of apartments feature access to the exclusive River Room lounge on the ground level with private liquor cabinets, pool table and deck overlooking the water.

Residents will all enjoy private beach rooms and access to a north-facing resort-style pool.

Attracting savvy retirees primarily, the development also provides secured vehicle and pedestrian gate access with key fob and intercom to units plus security cameras located throughout the gardens and lobby areas.

Mr Muir said stage two was already generating plenty of interest, with buyers drawn to the house-size apartments and connection to water and the community.

Comino is the latest development to power ahead on the 810ha parcel of Caloundra coastline originally purchased by developer Roy Henzell in 1946.

Delivered in four stages over the next four years, the $400m luxury residential enclave will eventually feature private swimming pools, recreational spaces, a freshly renovated golf course with a redesigned club house and waterfront restaurants and cafes on the doorstep of the first marina precinct delivered on the Sunshine Coast in decades.

Mr Henzell says he feels satisfied to witness the final chapter of a 20 year project which “is very dear to my heart”.

“We have the last bridge under construction now which will make this a complete island and community,” Mr Henzell said.

“I think everyone knows Pelican Waters is a complete destination and it makes me proud to be associated with it.”

The Cove is also moments from Golden Beach, a five-minute drive to Caloundra’s city centre and within reach of beautiful Bribie Island and the Glasshouse Mountains, with Brisbane city and the airport less than an hour away.
