NEW residential projects with owner-occupier style apartments are attracting buyers on the Sunshine Coast, particularly around the emerging Maroochydore City Centre.
One of those developments is Rise Maroochydore Beach on Sixth Ave, a luxury 12-storey ocean-view development which is currently being built.
The development features 48 apartments, with two and three-bedroom configurations and two-level, four-bedroom penthouses.
Daniel Hurst of Colliers International said since launching Rise in October last year, 60 per cent of the development had sold, totalling $30 million.
"Majority of the buyers are semi retirees from southeast Queensland who want to live near the beach and are able to work from home as well as commute to Brisbane,” Mr Hurst said. "Young professionals make up about 20 per cent of the buyers,” he said.
"Traditionally apartments on the Sunshine Coast were bought as a holiday investment, but more people are migrating to the area due to the improving economy, creation of jobs and infrastructure development.
There are 17 apartments remaining at Rise, with two-bedroom apartments selling from $565,000 up to four bedroom penthouses from $2.2 million.
Director of O.G.E Group Architects, John Robertson, said developer Saintsun was passionate about the spatial arrangement of apartments.
The apartments have floor-to-ceiling glass balcony doors to make the most of the ocean views and offer seamless integration between the indoor and outdoor spaces.
"What we did with Rise is to have every apartment having access to two, if not three, facades for light and breath,” Mr Robertson said.
"The developer really wanted to celebrate what it is to be a penthouse and could see that there were some people out there who really wanted a home in the sky as opposed to an apartment that's big.
The building will include solar power to reduce electricity consumption, as well as feature on-site facilities such as Lobby café, fitness centre, resident pool and BBQ facilities.
