He was later allegedly seen driving in Mapleton before members of the public detained him at a service station on Montville Mapleton Rd at 11.55am on the same day before police arrived.

Police allege the stolen items from the house were found in the car Currie was driving illegally.

Currie was due to face a hearing in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday on one count of entering a dwelling and committing an indictable offence.

Police prosecutor Alison Johnstone asked for the hearing to be adjourned after two of the witnesses who were meant to give evidence and Currie’s solicitor were “all isolating because of Covid”.

The hearing was vacated and the matter will be mentioned again on January 27 to ensure witnesses are available.

Currie is also charged with driving a motor vehicle without a driver‘s licence having never held a licence and unlawful use of motor vehicle aircraft or vessel, each connected to the alleged September 29 offending.

Court documents state Currie won’t contest these charges and they will be mentioned on February 10.
