A previously unemployed Sunshine Coast man who police allege had unexplained wealth while dealing cocaine has now found himself a job.

The Sunshine Coast Drug and Serious Crime Taskforce raided Jayden James Soanes’ home in early March, and alleged he was selling commercial quantities of cocaine and smaller amounts of MDMA and marijuana.

Soanes faces seven charges including three counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs.

The previously unemployed alleged coke dealer, sporting a ranga mullet, Soanes, faced the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday to have his bail conditions updated after he secured employment.

Court documents revealed Soanes identified himself by the nickname “ranga”, had “no legitimate income”, and hadn’t worked since September 2023.

Despite this, police allege Soanes owned a Toyota HiLux ute which was given in lieu of a $14,000 drug debt, bought a boat for $30,000 and went on two overseas holidays to Bali and Thailand.

On Friday the court heard Soanes had new employment which would require him to travel between the Sunshine Coast and Hervey Bay.

According to court documents from March, Soanes is now working as an apprentice.

Updated court documents have been requested.

Soanes had his bail conditions changed to allow this so he would not breach his curfew and reporting requirements while working away.

The court heard he requested to report to the officer in charge at Hervey Bay and was present in court to sign his new bail.

His charges were adjourned to August 2.
