Serious assault charges have been laid against a young Noosa Heads man who allegedly glassed a 22-year-old during an altercation at a popular Hastings Street bar.

Police have laid serious assault charges on a Noosa Heads man who allegedly glassed another man and “threw him on his head” at a Hastings Street bar.

Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Pete Hocken said police were called after an altercation between two men aged in their early 20s early on Sunday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Hocken said the alleged victim, 22, of Cooroy, sustained facial fractures after allegedly being glassed and “thrown on his head” at the Little Sister Café and Bar.

Sergeant Hocken said a 24-year-old Noosa Heads man was arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm in relation to the incident.

A Queensland Ambulance Services spokesman said the victim was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition about 12.44am.

The spokesperson said a critical care paramedic was onboard.

The man was released on bail and was due to appear in the Noosa Magistrates Court on October 5, 2021.

Sergeant Hocken said the victim had no long-term injuries.
