A disturbing video of a hoon ploughing into a fence and barely missing bystanders after a burnout on the Sunshine Coast has emerged, as police reveal they are cracking down on illegal hoon activity.

The video, which was shared to a public Instagram account on Thursday, October 5, shows a white Holden Commodore performing a burnout on Fred Chaplain Circuit in Corbould Park before it suddenly loses control and ploughs into a fence.

The person filming the video is heard swearing as it narrowly misses a crowd of bystanders and one person is knocked backwards.

A fight between the driver and one of the onlookers then breaks out with several others forced to intervene.

Corbould Park worker Sarah Farrell said she had noticed burnout marks Fred Chaplin Cct for months.

“You can see the areas they like the best,” she said.

The worker also had a close call with two motorbikes.

“They came flying around the roundabout the wrong way, I nearly collected two of them, another one nearly ran into a parked car,” Ms Farrell said.

“You know, they shouldn’t be out on the street.”

Sunshine Coast District Southern Patrol Group Acting Inspector John Mahoney said police were aware of “hooning type activity” in the Beerwah and Caloundra areas, and police were now cracking down on hoons in the area.

He could not confirm the number of reports of hooning but said Caloundra and Beerwah officers had responded to “numerous” instances in recent weeks.

“Police have recently door knocked businesses in the Corbould Park industrial area to identify intelligence and CCTV capability,” he said.

“Sunshine Coast Police acknowledge the community dissatisfaction and public safety issues associated with hooning, and are actively attempting to disrupt, respond and investigate planned and unplanned hooning events, and prosecute offenders.”
