Richard Darcy found not guilty of rape, sexual assault

A bookkeeper walked out of a Sunshine Coast court with his fist in the air after being discharged of allegations he raped and sexually assaulted a teenage girl for more than a year.

A Eudlo bookkeeper walked out of a Sunshine Coast court with his fist in the air after he was acquitted of multiple sexual assault and rape allegations involving a teenage girl.

Richard Darcy, 40, was supported by his wife and another person in Maroochydore District Court on November 3 - the third and final day of his trial after he was accused of raping and sexually assaulting a teenager in 2018 and 2019.

Mr Darcy pleaded not guilty to two charges of rape, four of sexual assault and one of aggravated sexual assaulT.

On November 3, a jury found him not guilty on all charges after deliberating for less than 45 minutes.

Mr Darcy was acquitted and discharged by Judge Amanda McDonnell.

He was seen leaving the Maroochydore Court House with his fist in the air, followed by his smiling wife.
