A Nambour man has been told he has a problem with getting drunk and ‘taking his pants off’ after a lewd display at a popular Sunshine Coast bar.

Magistrate Anna Smith said to Renato Lovric in court he may want to “rein in” his explicit behaviour after he was seen parading around Taps Mooloolaba with his penis exposed.

Multiple punters witnessed the 33-year-old’s drunken antics about 10.47pm on July 11 where he walked round and approached different members of the bar with his genitalia on display through the zipper of his pants.

Police prosecutor Allison Johnstone said Lovric later stated he was trying to go to the toilet.

He was asked to leave by security however he returned several times while they tried to escort him from the venue.

Sergeant Johnstone said the Nambour man threatened venue staff by stating “I’m going to f---ing kill you right now”.

Several bar patrons left Taps Mooloolaba due to Lovric’s behaviour and police were called.

When officers arrived, the court was told he refused to accept a fine and was arrested.

He was charged with public nuisance and wilful exposure, which he pleaded guilty to in court on Monday at Maroochydore Magistrates Court.

Duty solicitor Sarah Knight said Lovric was grappling with grief that night as he had put his beloved pet dog down.

He then drank “an enormous” amount of alcohol to cope, which led to the public outburst at Mooloolaba.

Ms Knight said Lovric advised that police were concerned for his welfare due to how drunk he was and took him to the hospital before he spent a night in the watch-house.

The solicitor said she was instructed the unemployed 33-year-old did not have a problem with alcohol, but conceded there was a wilful exposure offence from 2017.

Ms Smith said this was the second time this happened on Lovric’s history, and instructed him to fix the issue.

“Clearly you have a liking for getting intoxicated and taking your pants off,” she said.

Lovric took umbrage with the facts however and claimed he was not allowed into the venue to use the toilet and didn’t go into the bar at all. He said he only urinated outside.

“You actually can’t remember that much about the evening … well you pleaded guilty to going in there and in fact, exposing your penis to a number of people in the bar,” she said.

“It has happened before so you might want to rein that in a bit.”

He was convicted and fined $800.
