Police probe starts over vehicle in Sippy Downs lake on Sunshine Coast
Police are investigating after a suspected stolen four-wheel drive was found in a Sunshine Coast lake. There are now up to 70 stolen cars stolen across the state each day.

Police are investigating how a four-wheel drive ended up in a Sunshine Coast lake overnight.
The Mitsubishi four-wheel drive was found in the lake near the corner of Albany St and Sir Raleigh Dr in Sippy Downs.
A police spokeswoman said the vehicle was reported to officers about 6.50am today, March 1.
She said no one was in the vehicle when police arrived at the scene.
The spokeswoman said an investigation into the suspected stolen vehicle had begun.

Almost 70 cars were stolen every day across the state in December 2022, which was the worst month on record for vehicle thefts.
A “stolen vehicle hotlist” published by police on February 24 showed officers were searching for five vehicles on the Sunshine Coast including a Nissan Navara dual cab and an Audi station wagon.
