Police will wait on post mortem results to determine the cause of death of two men as they wrapped up a crime scene at a Sunshine Coast caravan park.

Maroochydore Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Mansfield said the crime scene at the Nambour Caravan Park on Nambour Connection Rd in Kulangoor had concluded about 2pm on February 27.

Police were investigating after a caravan park resident found the two bodies on Sunday afternoon, February 26.

The dead men, who were middle-aged, were found in a cabin.

“Police are waiting on post mortem results including a toxicology report,” Senior Sergeant Mansfield said.

He said the forensic team was there for hours, from the morning until the afternoon, examining the scene.

“We don’t believe it to be suspicious,” Senior Sergeant Mansfield said.

Nambour CIB Detective Senior Constable Gary Purtell said yesterday that police were called to the scene about 5pm on Sunday and guarded the scene overnight.

Police allege one of the men lived at the caravan park while the other man was visiting his friend.

Yesterday, Senior Sergeant Mansfield said police believed the two men died “few days” ago.

He said he had not received any information regarding stab wounds in relation to the incident.

The caravan park owners have declined to comment about the incident at this stage.

This latest incident follows a stabbing during a neighbours’ dispute at the park in 2019, which injured one man.

The Nambour Caravan Park is one of the few on the Sunshine Coast which still offers short and longer term accommodation.

Tucked in behind a service station, it is often used by people on low incomes and has been in high demand given the homeless crisis gripping regional Queensland.

Last week, the Sunshine Coast Regional Council voted unanimously to waive temporary housing application fees for those unable to afford the payment.
