Police investigations into an alleged stabbing at a Coolum Beach park over Easter are ongoing as one man remains in hospital in a serious condition.

One man was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical but stable condition after suffering a chest wound, while another other had non life-threatening injuries to his arm and was taken to the same hospital.

As of Wednesday morning, April 3, one man remained in hospital in a serious condition.

Detectives from the Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Unit and Child Protection and Investigation Unit are continuing to investigate the alleged stabbing at Coolum Beach on Saturday, March 30.

A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed an 18-year-old man remains in Sunshine Coast University Hospital undergoing treatment.

“No arrests have been made and enquires are still ongoing,” he said.

“Police are continuing to appeal to any witnesses, or anyone who may have captured footage in the area at the time, to come forward.”

Three men are assisting police with their inquiries.

Passer-by, Chynae Weinert said the incident occurred in the Lions and Norrie Job Memorial Park across the road from the Coolum Beach Hotel on David Low Way about 6pm Saturday night.

Ms Weinert said she and her housemate were walking along the footpath in the park when she noticed a “bloodied and bruised” young man nearby.

“It looked like a fight had already happened,” she said.

“And then he was screaming and yelling and a group of young men, a big crowd, came from the right.”

The pair then saw the other injured man was on the ground “moaning and in pain” further along the path and she said he was stabbed and there was something wrong with his legs.

Ms Weinert’s housemate phoned emergency services and a doctor and a nurse were already with the second injured man.

The Coolum Beach resident said she was shocked by the incident.

“My roommate and I were both shook up for the night,” Ms Weinert said.

“You just don’t see it, the emotions were shocking.

“The other boy went into cardiac arrest while we were calling the ambulance.

“It was very tense, very frightened and shocked with the bashing, we couldn’t compute what was happening.”

Ms Weinert’s housemate Ebonny Williams said the emergency service response was incredible and were there minutes after she phoned them.

“They dealt with it so well, to be that concerned and then have people there within minutes who knew what they were doing was incredible,” she said.

Coolum Beach resident of 44 years Greg Onions said there had been trouble in the park in the past.

He said an acquaintance had also been attacked in the park a couple of months ago.

“It’s not very good,” he said.

Separate from any of these incidents, Mr Onions said there were also people camping in the park bushland.

“Locals probably tend not to come here in the night,” he said.

Police are also investigating a separate incident in Buddina after a man was rushed to a Sunshine Coast hospital with a stab wound to his hand last night.

Paramedics transported a man in his 20s to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with the wound to his hand.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said officers were aware of the incident and were called to a Point Cartwright Dr home in Buddina after 9.20pm to reports of a wounding.

“He’s walked to the address with a wound,” she said.

The spokeswoman said that, reportedly, the incident had not occurred at the home.

She said police were investigating and anyone with information should come forward.
