An outdoor educator has admitted to trespassing in his fling’s Sunshine Coast hinterland home and finding her in bed with another man.

Nelson Eulalio unexpectedly found himself in a love triangle when he damaged a laundry door and confronted his former lover about the man who he found her in bed with.

His crime of passion was revealed in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to domestic violence offences of wilful damage and trespass.

Police prosecutor Val Crossley said the Bridges man and the woman were in a relationship from October last year to March until they broke up.

Senior Sergeant Crossley said Eulalio believed they revived their love after a recent intimate encounter, and he went to her hinterland home on September 16 after he called her several times without a response until she finally texted she was “busy”.

When he arrived at the property about 8.45pm, he went to the side of the house where he spotted her in bed with another man.

Senior Sergeant Crossley said Eulalio banged on the doors and yelled for her to come outside.

The police prosecutor said he walked around the house and banged on more doors and windows while the victim called police for urgent help.

She said the Bridges man kicked the laundry door in and damaged it. He then walked to the bedroom where he confronted the victim, who was trying to hide in a bedroom closet as her new beau stood between them.

Senior Sergeant Crossley said the man told Eulalio to leave until eventually he left and drove away.

The court was told police spoke to Eulalio who said he slept with the woman the night prior and believed his actions were “justified” as he was emotionally hurt by finding her in bed with another man.

Defence lawyer Matthew Cooper said the Brazilian-born man, who had no criminal history, was an outdoor educator who was engaged by churches and schools.

Eulalio’s website also described him as a “nature-based therapist” whose life mission was to bring nature connection and real-life skills to youth and adults.

The court heard he had new employment in the new year where he will conduct outdoor expeditions in Indonesia, India and Vietnam.

Mr Cooper said Eulalio and the victim were speaking everyday and believed the relationship had been rekindled when he stumbled across the pair in bed together.

The solicitor argued the rural fire brigade member, who held a blue card and was a justice of the peace, led an unblemished life who made a mistake on one day. Eulalio also wrote an apology letter to the court.

Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist opted not to record a conviction, but fined Eulalio $900. He also ordered the Bridges man to pay $1100 for the damaged door and $500 in compensation.
