Mountain Creek alleged armed robbery: Three teenagers, man arrested

A cash dispute allegedly sparked a violent home invasion by a man and three teens in a suburban Sunshine Coast street during which police claim a gun and knife were wielded.

Weapons and violence were allegedly involved in a disturbing home invasion which has landed three teenagers and a man into custody.

Police allege Dominick Encoh Phillips of Kallangur, Taneisha Lee Blakeley of West Woombye, Caleb James Benson of Morayfield and Bradley Turnbull-Kelly of Rothwell played roles in an armed robbery on Wednesday evening in Mountain Creek.

The quartet made their bid for freedom on bail for their alleged parts in the armed robbery in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Police allege a fight broke out at the Mountain Creek home with the four teens leaving before returning armed with weapons including a firearm and knife.

Police prosecutor Mick Ruddiman alleged in Maroochydore Magistrates Court the gang of teens “smashed the place up” before they decamped.

Police allege the group returned shortly after officers were called and were identified by the complainants which led to their arrest.

The court heard a firearm and ammunition were found in the car.

Mr Phillips, 19, was first to apply for bail out of the foursome with his lawyer Rod Morgan saying there was no shotgun found.

Magistrate Kurt Fowler said Mr Phillips and the other three teenagers were essentially charged with a “home invasion” in a “dispute over a small amount of money” where threats were made.

Solicitor Liesel Rogan acted for Ms Blakely, 18, and said the apprentice hairdresser would be contesting the allegations put against her.

Sergeant Ruddiman said the 18-year-old had been a “primary player” who police allege was found with a knife.

He told the court the group allegedly went to the home with weapons “to obtain material that is not theirs”, “terrifying" those inside.

Lawyer Matthew Cooper said his client Mr Benson, 19, had not been specifically identified or named by witnesses and there was no evidence he was inside the Mountain Creek home or knew there were weapons.

The court heard Mr Benson was on bail for serious offences of assault and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Mr Cooper said it was only alleged that Mr Benson yelled out “come on let’s go cops are coming” during the incident.

Ms Blakely was granted bail while Mr Phillips and Mr Benson were refused.

Mr Turnbull-Kelly, 23, did not apply for bail and had his matter adjourned to April 12.

The other three teenagers had their matters adjourned to May 20.

All four face charges of enter dwelling with intent and robbery with actual violence while Ms Blakely and Mr Phillips are additionally charged with attempted enter dwelling with intent.

Mr Phillips faces more charges of possessing marijuana, breaching bail and failing to appear.

Mr Turnbull-Kelly faces one last charge authority required to possess explosives.
