A former Australian cricket star who was arrested for a string of domestic violence charges in April had his matter mentioned in court again.

Michael Jonathon Slater had his bail refused after he was charged with 19 offences including assault occasioning bodily harm, choking and strangulation, four charges of common assault, enter dwelling at night by break, unlawful stalking and breaching bail conditions.

All charges except for the bail breach are domestic violence offences.

Defence lawyer Alex Collins represented Slater into Maroochydore Magistrates Court on May 31 to inform the court lawyer Troy Krahenbring had now taken up the matter.

He told the court the brief of evidence will be delivered to Mr Krahenbring after police disclosed the material to Slater’s previous lawyers.

Magistrate Matthew McLaughlin adjourned the matter to June 28.

The majority of charges relate to two alleged incidents on December 6, 2023 and April 12, shortly before he was arrested.

Court documents previously revealed the alleged victim was a woman Slater had been in a brief relationship with.

It is alleged Slater had struck the woman across the face after she visited his home for a welfare check.

Documents alleged he also kicked her and grabbed her throat twice including an occasion where he began lifted the woman up.

Slater had allegedly picked up a vodka bottle and raised it above his head, threatening “I’ll f---ing kill you” during the altercation.

Documents stated the second incident involved Slater allegedly visiting her home and demanding to be let inside before smashing a window to climb through it.

It is alleged he “took hold of her arm firmly” which resulted in one of the common assault charges.

Slater has also been charged with stalking after he allegedly sent about 300 messages calling her an “escort” and a “slut” and threatening suicide through voice messages.

He has yet to enter any plea.
