A midday break-in has left Caloundra residents on edge after a man broke into apartments with a rock on Friday afternoon.

A man allegedly broke into residential apartments on Maloja Ave on Friday, November 14, at 2pm.

A QPS spokeswoman said the alleged burglar damaged property, but no goods were reported as stolen.

“Police are investigating a break-and-enter that occurred in Caloundra on 14 November,” she said.

“There is no report of stolen property, and the damage is a smashed window.”

A resident in the complex posted an image of the suspect and warned people to be alert.

“He broke into our apartment complex, then used a large rock to try and smash his way, via a large glass window, into one of the units,” she said.

“He obviously didn't care that it was broad daylight.

“A timely reminder to us all to be vigilant!”

A series of home break-ins has recently occurred in another Sunshine Coast suburb, leaving residents afraid.

QPS are urging anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to contact police in relation to Friday’s incident.

Investigations are ongoing.
