A man has died following a horror single-car crash on a busy Sunshine Coast road earlier this week.
An initial police investigation shows about 5.20pm, a silver Mitsubishi Triton was travelling north on the Sunshine Motorway at Peregian Springs, when it left the road after passing through the roundabout with Murdering Creek Rd and crashed into a tree on January 9.
The driver, a 20-year-old Sippy Downs man, was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where he died as result of his injuries.
A 56-year-old Cooroibah man, a passenger of the vehicle, was not physically injured.
The forensic crash unit is investigating.
Investigators are appealing to any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam vision to come forward.
Paramedics earlier said the man was trapped in the vehicle that had gone down an embankment and received life-threatening injuries.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said crews found the man trapped in his vehicle.
A rescue helicopter was also called to the scene.
