A beloved 20-year-old man has been remembered for his ‘kind smile’ and ‘lighting up every room’ after tragically dying at the weekend from a wet weather crash – with his donated organs saving five lives.
Lukas George Goller died following a horror single-car crash on a busy Sunshine Coast road last week.
An initial police investigation shows about 5.20pm, a silver Mitsubishi Triton was travelling north on the Sunshine Motorway at Peregian Springs, when it left the road after passing through the roundabout with Murdering Creek Rd and crashed into a tree on January 9.
The 20-year-old Sippy Downs man was rushed to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
A 56-year-old Cooroibah man, a passenger of the vehicle, was not physically injured.
The forensic crash unit is still investigating.
In the wake of his tragic death family friend Katryna West started a GoFundMe campaign.
“Help us give Luke the farewell he deserves,” she said.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of our beloved Luke, who was tragically taken from us at just 20 years old in a car accident (crash).
“On that fateful day, rain caused his car to slide out, and our world was forever changed.
“Luke was the light in every room, he was always putting a smile on our faces and making us laugh any chance he got.
“He was a devoted son, brother, and friend with the biggest heart.
“He would drop everything to help those he loved, and his kindness touched everyone he met.”
Ms West was asking for help to give him the “send off he truly deserves”.
“The financial burden of a funeral is something none of us expected, and we want to take some of the pressure off our grieving family so they can focus on honouring Luke’s life and memory,” she said.
“Any contribution, big or small, will go directly towards funeral expenses and ensuring Luke’s final moments reflect the love and joy he brought into our lives.
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support during this difficult time.
“Rest in peace Luke. You’ll forever be missed and never forgotten.”
His parents, Tony and Vicky Goller, were devastated by the loss of their son.
In his final act of kindness, Luke donated his organs and saved five lives.
His girlfriend of more than two years, Maya Curtis, shared many photos on Facebook after his death.
“My beautiful,” she captioned the post.
Mr Goller posted to Facebook saying Ms Curtis was the love of his son’s life and his “true love”.
“I loved observing him dotting on her,” he said.
“I loved seeing her love him.
“My heart bleeds love and admiration for this lovely lil soul … suffering the loss of her beautiful man … my son.”
Another friend, Summer Dale, also shared a tribute to Facebook.
“Yesterday we lost a best mate … someone I’d considered a brother,” she said.
“Someone who I’d watched grow into the remarkable man he was.
“I will forever miss your humour, your one liners and the way you were always going out of your way to make everyone laugh and have a good time.
“This world is so cruel and you were taken far too early, there will forever be a piece of me missing.
“I love you Luke, my brother, till we meet again.”
Ms Curtis, Ms West, and the Gollers have been contacted for further comment.
