A Nirimba mother of five who went on a crime spree spanning almost two years involving taking off with rental cars has been handed a jail sentence.

Jameela Micah Pehi had spent 34 days on remand for 26 charges which spanned from July, 2020 up until her arrest in June, 2022.

Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard the charges ranged from unlawful use of motor vehicles, fraud, stealing and drug related charges including possessing meth and cocaine.

Police prosecutor Mark Burrell said the most serious offences were the two counts of unlawful possession of motor vehicles where she had not returned rental cars on July 22, 2020 in Everton Park and on August 28, 2020 in Marcoola.

Her offending also included a fuel drive off, stealing bank cards, and failing to appear for court.

Senior Constable Burrell said her history included a range of stealing offences which had been previously dealt with as he pushed for a jail term.

Defence lawyer Rod Morgan said most of the offences were attributed to a turbulent life which involved a relationship breakdown while in Mackay.

Mr Morgan said Pehi continued to move around which accounted for the failure to appear and breaches of bail.

He said the mother-of-five had been living in an unstable situation but had plans to move to New South Wales.

Pehi pleaded guilty to 26 charges including five breaches of bail, three counts of stealing, two of unlawful possession of a motor vehicle, and two of possessing drugs.

She was given a head sentence of six months’ jail but was granted immediate parole.

Pehi was ordered to repay $656.19 in restitution with convictions recorded.
