A Glenview woman has spent the night in the watch-house after she pinned a man against a shopfront over a bizarre argument for a lighter.

Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard that Leanna Louise Flower “appeared to be fighting” a man about 2.30am on May 5 in Maroochydore after she tried to take a lighter from him.

Police prosecutor Brendan Newman said the man told police he was playing with his lighter with his mates on the corner of Duporth Ave near the Big Top Shopping Centre when he was approached by Flower.

He was flicking the lighter on and off when without warning the Glenview woman approached and tried to take it off him.

After numerous attempts to take the lighter she then attacked him.

The court heard the 32-year-old pinned the man against a shop front wall, with the forearm placed against his chest to stop him from moving. Patrolling police came upon the bizarre exchange.

She was told by police to leave the man alone but she refused which forced police to arrest her.

Flower spent the night in the Maroochydore watch-house before she was charged.

“What is the story,” magistrate Rod Madsen asked duty lawyer Michael Robinson.

Mr Robinson said Flower doesn’t drink much and was out with a girlfriend for dinner that night when the Glenview woman recalled a negative encounter with the man on the street.

The court heard Flower doesn’t even smoke and wasn’t looking for a lighter but bizarrely argued with him.

He said the 32-year-old offered remorse and regrets wasting the court’s time.

Mr Madsen accept it was out of character for the 32-year-old.

Flower pleaded guilty to committing a public nuisance and was placed a 12 month good behaviour bond.

No conviction was recorded.
