Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
A Sunshine Coast University Hospital spokeswoman said two of three teenagers who suffered injuries in the crash remain in a stable condition, and the third was discharged.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman previously said officers were investigating the crash.
“Initial investigations indicate a blue Toyota Corolla was travelling north on Nambour Connection Road and a white Suzuki Swift was travelling south when the two cars collided at the intersection with McKenzie Road,” she said.
“The driver and passenger of the Toyota ran from the scene before police arrived.
“The 17-year-old female driver and two 17-year-old male passengers of the Suzuki were transported to hospital in stable conditions.”
The spokeswoman said police believed the Corolla was stolen.
“The Toyota vehicle was reportedly stolen from a carpark on Matthew Terrace, Caboolture, after 6.30pm on May 7,” she said.
“The occupants of the Toyota remain outstanding and police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, has information, or dashcam or CCTV footage of the area at the time to contact police.”
A witness told this publication the Corolla did not have its headlights on, and was speeding at the time of the collision.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said one teenager suffered a head and spinal injury, another teenager suffered chest pain, and a third teenager suffered an ankle injury.
All three patients were taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said none of the teenagers were trapped in the vehicle, and fireys left the scene in the hands of police shortly after the crash.
