The man who allegedly murdered Nambour woman Aysha Baty will have his fitness to stand trial assessed by the Mental Health Court.
Dylan Alexander Wilson, 35, is charged with killing the 31-year-old woman in the early hours of August 22, 2020.
The woman’s body was found beside Matthew St, Nambour.
Detective Inspector Dave Drinnen previously told media that police will allege Ms Baty was found by emergency crews with “abhorrent” injuries.
Mr Wilson, who is being represented by the Legal Aid office, is yet to enter any pleas.
Solicitor Liesel Rogan told Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday, December 3, Mr Wilson had been referred to the Mental Health Court for a hearing on March 28, 2022.
Ms Rogan said examinations have occurred and reports have been prepared ahead of the hearing.
She said the matter would most likely be finalised in the Mental Health Court at that time.
Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist adjourned the magistrates’ matter to April 1, to allow the Mental Health Court time to determine whether Mr Wilson is fit to stand trial.
The Mental Health Court decides whether an alleged offender was of unsound mind when they committed an offence and whether they are fit for trial.
Mr Wilson was excused on the next occasion, as he continues to be remanded in custody.
