A man charged over a crash at Burnside in September last year that killed an aged care worker will continue his stint behind bars as his law firm awaits missing material, a court has been told.

Caloundra West man Izak Kane Sefton-Bennett had is matter mentioned in the Caloundra Magistrates Court on February 15.

He faces 12 charges including one count of dangerously operating a vehicle causing death whilst affected by an intoxicating substance and leaving the scene without obtaining help.

He has not entered any pleas.

The charges relate to an incident on September 15 at Windsor Rd, Burnside near Nambour Special School and Burnside State School that killed aged care worker Christella Tan.

Defence lawyer Rowan King represented Mr Sefton-Bennett as town agent for Taylor Rose solicitor Danielle Gill and asked for the matter to be adjourned.

He told the court the firm was waiting for required material, which police needed to produce.

Mr King said the matter was not urgent as Mr Sefton-Bennett was remanded in the Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre and was serving a mandatory 12-month imprisonment sentence for a separate firearm offence.

Court documents previously showed witnesses had spotted Mr Sefton-Bennett emerge from the stolen Mercedes and drop an item, later revealed to be a shortened rifle.

He was then found in a nearby home “pretending to be asleep,” court documents alleged.

The alleged theft of the Mercedes was also detailed in documents, stating a Landsborough man was awoken about 2am by a bang at his front door.

It is alleged Mr Sefton-Bennett demanded the car keys and pulled a gun from his pants, before stealing several items and driving away.

Mr King told the court the firm was seeking for the matters to be committed.

Magistrate Catherine Benson adjourned the matter to March 7.

Mr Sefton-Bennett has been charged with dangerously operating a vehicle causing death whilst affected by an intoxicating substance and leaving the scene without obtaining help, failing to exhibit proper respect to the deceased showing callous disregard to an injured person, driving without a licence, entering a dwelling at night, possessing firearms, possessing drug utensils, possessing drugs, possessing or using a weapon whilst under the influence, robbery with actual violence, unlawful use of a vehicle, possessing explosives and carrying a loaded weapon.
