Driver injured after car crashes into tree on Old Gympie Rd, Mooloolah Valley

Paramedics are assessing the driver of a car which crashed into a tree on Tuesday afternoon, leaving part of a large Sunshine Coast road closed.

A Sunshine Coast road has been closed after a car crashed into a tree, leaving the driver with a suspected head injury.

A Queensland ambulance spokeswoman said crews were called to Old Gympie Rd, Mooloolah Valley just before 4.30pm on Tuesday to reports a car had crashed into a tree.

She said the driver of the car was able to get themselves out and was being assessed by paramedics.

A Queensland police spokeswoman said it was understood the driver had suffered an ‘obvious’ head injury.

Police said a section of Old Gympie Rd was closed while smoke continued to come from the car.

Police plead for information after car smashes into shopfront

A car has ploughed into a shopfront early Tuesday morning causing a retail building on a busy Sunshine Coast street to lose power.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said one crew was on scene after being called just before 7am.

He said a single car had left the road and run into the front of a retail shop on Queen St, Nambour.

The QFD spokesman said there were no injuries and no evacuation was necessary since no one was in the closed store.

He said there was damage done and the power supply to the retail building had been cut.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said police were investigating the crash at Nambour this morning, January 14.

About 6.30am today police were called to Queen St after reports of a vehicle crashing into a number of structures.

Early investigations revealed a white Toyota LandCruiser was travelling east on Howard St before turning left onto Queen St and mounting the footpath.

The vehicle damaged park benches, lights and the glass door of a businesses.

No one was injured.

Investigations are ongoing and police are appealing for any witnesses or dashcam of the incident.

Crystal Realm sustained damage to its glass storefront. The pane was cracked and the frame damaged.

The shop awning and the one of the butcher’s next door were torn and the metal frame lying on the ground.

A decorative street bin was also knocked over.

Energex and Sunshine Coast Council workers were cleaning the street and securing the shopfront.
