A man accused of causing the 2022 death of Sunshine Coast father Bryce Williams (inset) while he was jogging in the South Burnett has had his matter mentioned in court.

A man accused of the causing the death of a Sunshine Coast father who was allegedly struck by a car near Kingaroy in 2022 will not return to court over the matter until late 2024.

Walter Evan McBryde, 52, had his charges mentioned in Nanango Magistrates Court on Monday, eight months after his first court appearance over the death of Bryce Williams on September 6, 2022.

Mr Williams was killed while jogging along Nanango Brooklands Rd, about 10km southeast of Kingaroy, when he was allegedly hit by a passing car about 6.30pm.

Mr McBryde has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, driver fail to remain at incident, immediately stop at incident and exhibit proper respect to deceased showing callous disregard for the needs of a person injured.

Bryce Williams was jogging on a rural road outside Kingaroy on September 6, 2022, when he was allegedly struck by a passing car and killed.

The dangerous operation charge will be dealt with in the region’s District Court.

Mr McBryde is yet to enter any pleas. The matter was adjourned until September 16, 2024.

He remains on bail.
