A Cherbourg woman who called triple-0 with a made-up story about her ex-partner faced Murgon Magistrates Court on February 18, 2025.
Alexis Jean Hopkins, 46, pleaded guilty to one count of making a vexatious call to emergency services and one count of failing to appear.
The court heard Ms Hopkins made a call to emergency services claiming her ex-partner was at another person’s home when she was trying to locate them.
Ms Hopkins turned up at the complainant’s home in Cherbourg around 8:30am on September 30, 2024, demanding to see her ex-partner, who she believed was in a relationship with the woman, the court heard.
She told Ms Hopkins they were not together anymore and they were not at the home.

The court heard the defendant had to be “marched out of her yard” and she was “grossly intoxicated” at the time.
Later that night, Ms Hopkins called emergency services and told them her ex-partner was at the woman’s address and was breaching a domestic violence order.
Police responded to the call but when they arrived they did not find this person at the house and the woman informed police they had never been to her home.
Around 15 minutes later, while police were still at the residence, Ms Hopkins called emergency services back and said she could hear someone being assaulted in the house.
Ms Hopkins’ lawyer, Alan Korobacz from ATSILS, said his client was a single mother with a “poor history” but it had been five years since she last offended.
Magistrate Andrew Sinclair fined Ms Hopkins to $1000 and sentenced her to one month jail, suspended for 12 months.
