Family and friends of Jack McLennan are seeking public help in their efforts to locate the missing 27-year-old with a new fundraiser launched to cover costs of the month-long search.

The GoFundMe campaign, launched by Claire du Preez, has so far raised $1825 to help with the search for the missing Murgon man, who was last seen on the night of October 4.

Ms du Preez said in the statement accompanying the campaign the 27-year-old’ family “is left without answers, and each day becomes increasingly difficult for them”.

She said the fundraiser would allow the community to ‘unite to support Jack McLennan’s family in their search for their beloved son.”

“Through donations, we can help provide additional resources for the ongoing search for Jack and provide financial support his family during this unimaginable time,” Ms du Preez said.

“Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in their fight to bring Jack home.”

Jack’s aunt Laura Palmer said the 27-year-old’s Jack's parents were “suffering the worst traumatic kind of sorrow and most unmanageable form of severe stress”.

“Jack’s disappearance is painful and devastating for our family and friends.”

Mr McLennan’s mother Kellie Moody has previously called for greater transparency from police during search efforts.

In a post on the Facebook page she established as part of search efforts following the 27-year-old’s October 4 disappearance, Help Find Jack McLennan, Mrs Moody said more communication from authorities was needed as “families of missing persons are left in the dark”.

“There needs to be a liaison person letting us know where the search is up to,” Ms Moody said.

“There is a lot of communication in the first week and then it drops off, but families need constant transparency throughout.”

The police have scaled back resources in the search for Jack McLennan while detectives from the Darling Downs Criminal Investigation Branch and Homicide Investigation Unit have established Operation Whiskey Pocket.

“I still haven’t received info about the search on Monday (October 28) and what it exactly covered.

“His search has been halted so many times.”

Police did not directly respond to questions about Ms Moody’s comments, but said they have maintained contact with Jack’s next of kin throughout the course of the investigation and continue to provide updates.

“I keep [hoping] that Jack is out there. There are plenty [of] stories that have positive outcomes.”

Mrs Moody revealed that her son told her that he injured his head from an accident on a swing at Ficks Crossing at 4pm the day he went missing, and is concerned he “may not even have his memory”.

“This is becoming a major factor to me as things don’t add up,” Ms Moody said.
