A motorcycle rider was airlifted from the scene of a crash in the South Burnett on Thursday after being seriously injured.

Emergency crews rushed to the intersection of the D’Aguilar Hwy and Nanango Tarong Rd, at 12.53pm, where several people were assessed by paramedics.

A QAS spokeswoman said the man, aged in his 50s, suffered a serious leg injury in the crash about 2km south of Nanango.

He was expected to be taken to Kingaroy Hospital in a serious but stable condition and then airlifted to another Queensland hospital for further treatment.

A woman of unknown age was taken to Nanango Hospital with neck pain, and paramedics treated two other patients at the scene.

The D’Aguilar Hwy was cut for more than an hour as emergency crews worked to treat the patients and clear wreckage from the road.

It reopened shortly after 2pm.
