Police are investigating a suspicious death after a body was discovered during the search for a missing Kingaroy man, in the yard of a property about 100m from where Jayden Usher was last seen alive.

Police investigations are ongoing into the suspected suspicious death of a missing Kingaroy man after a body was discovered in the yard of an abandoned property.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is understood to be linked to the disappearance of Jayden Usher.

Police confirmed detectives discovered the body in the yard of a River Rd address about 9am on Wednesday, about 100m from where Mr Usher was last seen alive.

The 28-year-old man was last seen leaving a Booth St address where he was in company with several friends and associates between 2-3am on October 5.

Police launched a wide-ranging search operation, calling in officers from the Dog Squad, the Stock Squad, and Polair, along with volunteers from the State Emergency Service.

On Wednesday morning police confirmed they found a body at a River Rd property and while no definite determinations had been made, investigations were ongoing.

The discovery comes after police put out a call to residents in the area to search their properties, along with nearby drains, streets and parkland for Mr Usher’s blue iPhone 15 Pro, which remains missing.

Darling Downs Detective Acting Inspector Paula Smithard said police investigations were in the preliminary stages, but the discovery of the deceased male was being treated as suspicious.

Forensic officers have combed through the home and yard where the body was discovered with the area an active crime scene.

Acting Inspector Smithard confirmed that the area had previously been the subject of foot patrols and searches early in the investigation of Mr Usher but a body was not found.

“We’re talking to a lot of people at the moment, they’re not persons of interest they’re just friends, associates and family of Jayden so that we can paint a picture as to what has happened and the reasons for his disappearance,” she said.

“We’re still currently conducting our investigations, we’re in the preliminary stages we’ve only just located this male person. We need time and we’ve got the resources here to continue with our investigation.

“We would like the public to come forward with any kind of information and we’re keeping a very, very open mind.

“(The deceased) was only located early (Wednesday) morning, we have had forensic police at that location doing an assessment and forensic analysis of that scene.”
