Dangerous driving, Yarraman.

A man’s high-speed attempt to evade police has come to an abrupt stop at Yarraman, with police alleging he drove into oncoming traffic.

Police received multiple calls that a vehicle was allegedly driving north along the southbound traffic lanes on the Bruce Highway at Elimbah, about 3pm Thursday.

They found the vehicle stopped on the Steve Irwin Way on ramp, however it is alleged when they tried to intercept the vehicle the driver drove around police and back onto the highway.

About two hours later, police received further calls that the same vehicle had been driving dangerously along the D’Aguilar Highway at Moore.

Police sighted the car on the D’Aguilar Highway at Yarraman, where it is alleged the driver drove back onto the highway before stopping.

The driver returned a positive result for methamphetamine in a roadside drug test.

The Kallangur man has been charged with six offences including one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while adversely affected, drive with relevant drug present in blood, evade police and two counts of driving while unlicensed.

He was due to appear in the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Friday.
