A popular community event is back for their tenth annual showing, promising a host of fun activities and a haul of free gear for Gympie’s little ones and their parents.
Little Kids Day Out will be returning to the Gympie Pavilion and Show Grounds on Saturday, August 9 to connect families with “local schools, early learning centres, creative studios, support services, and businesses across our region,” the organisation said in a media release.
LKDO is a free event organised by 300 volunteers, with their tenth anniversary equipped with 1700 children’s bags, and 700 ‘parent packs’ that are “filled with local service information to help navigate available supports”.
A decorated walking track with hands-on activities, local performances, free face painting, a ball pit, sensory experiences, reading and dancing will be on offer at the gathering, which will kick off at 11am and run until 3pm.
On-site food and coffee vans, as well as a gold coin donation sausage sizzle with 1000 sausages prepared by the Nolan Meats Social Club and Gympie Meat Hall, and cooked by the Lions Club of Gympie, will be running throughout the day.
Local schools, businesses and organisations, the Gympie Council, early learning centres, and allied health and emergency services have jumped on board this year to support LKDO.
