The latest major franchise to join Kingaroy’s list of ever-popular fast food venues has been confirmed this week, with planners revealing when residents will be able to get their first taste in-store.

International fast food giant Hungry Jack’s has confirmed it will be setting up shop in town.

Hungry Jack’s chief marketing officer Scott Baird said the company was set to open its new Kingaroy restaurant early next year, creating more than 50 jobs.

“The new Kingaroy store is an exciting addition to the area, and a demonstration of the future of Hungry Jack’s stores,” Mr Baird said.

“We wanted to ensure the locals had access to all the classic burgers, including the famous flame grilled Whopper, along with new menu items and barista made coffee from Jack’s Cafe.”

South Burnett Regional Council approved the proposal for the fast food venue at the corner of Youngman and Alford Sts in October last year, with the 2020sqm development to include both outdoor and indoor dining areas and a double-lane drive-through.

The application was lodged by Town Planning Alliance on behalf of Interstate Locum Service Pty Ltd, which previously traded as South Burnett Medical Centre.

The Kingaroy restaurant will be open for dine-in, take-away and drive-thru early to late seven days a week.

Demolition is already under way at the former doctor’s surgery, which was until recently used by the Lives Lived Well drug- and alcohol-counselling service.

The area will need to be cleared and levelled before construction on the new building can start.

Traffic heading into the Hungry Jack’s will enter and exit the site from Alford St, opposite the KFC building, while pedestrians will gain access to the complex from Youngman St.

While no time frames are included in the application documents, the approval of the development will only be valid for six years.
