Nominees for the third annual South Burnett Music Awards have been announced, with award-winning country musicians, a Queensland Youth Parliament member and beloved local music teachers among the selection.
The event brings people from all over the South Burnett region together, to celebrate the music industry, and to encourage and preserve the act of performing live music.
Not only does the event celebrate local heroes in the music industry, it also raises money to make music more accessible for students in South Burnett schools through an instrument bursary program.
The event will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Murgon RSL. Tickets are available now.

Live Music Venue of the Year
This award recognises a South Burnett venue which has supported local acts and prioritised live music throughout the year. The nominees are as follows:

The Commercial Hotel, Kingaroy
The Kingaroy RSL
The Commercial Hotel, Nanango
Youth Musician of the Year
This is awarded to a South Burnett based musician under 25 who has shown commitment and drive in their music and music performance. The nominees are as follows:

This accolade is presented to a person in the music industry who has shown a special commitment to the industry and deserves encouragement in their work. The nominees are as follows:

Inductee into the South Burnett Music Hall of Fame
This award recognises outstanding contributions to live music in the South Burnett region and/or for showcasing South Burnett music talent to a state or national audience. The nominees are as follows:

Country Musician of the Year
This award is for a person in country music who has shown a special commitment to the industry and has achieved recognition in country music via accolades, chart position or music honour. The nominees are as follows:

South Burnett residents can also nominate a local band or artist for the People’s Choice award, anyone who they believe has significantly contributed to the local music industry.
Nominations close at 5pm on February 19.
The top five most nominated musicians or bands will be announced on February 26, and will then be open to a public vote.
