Queensland’s agricultural future was in focus on Friday as Primary Industries Minister Tony Perrett visited Bundaberg to discuss the state’s 25-year blueprint for the sector.

The blueprint will set the strategic vision to boost Queensland’s agricultural output to $30 billion by 2030 and be complemented by five-year operational plans tailored to meet regional and sector needs.

Critical considerations will include the impact of global megatrends, technological advancements including agtech and diversification, advanced manufacturing, and new international trade opportunities as well as environmental, social, and governance considerations.

Mr Perrett met with the Bundaberg Austchilli president on Friday and said the 25 year blueprint was about unleashing new opportunities.

Austchilli Bundaberg president Trent DePaoli said he was “aggressively supporting the plan”.

“We have to change, we do the same, we get the same results,” he said.

“Brand Australia is dead.”

Mr DePaoli said the credibility of Australia’s export was well known but brand Australia was a door opener and he wanted it to be more competitive.
LNP Burnett MP Stephen Bennett said he was happy for the announcement to be made in Bundaberg, to him it was a no brainer with Bundaberg being such an agricultural hub.
Mr Perrett said he was taking a whole of industry approach to design and deliver a clear and prosperous way forward for Queensland’s vital primary industries.

“The landscape of Queensland’s primary industries is changing rapidly, and we must act to ensure our industries and communities remain competitive, productive and resilient into the future,” Mr Perrett said.

“By working together, we can co-design solutions that reflect local priorities and help Queensland meet its ambitious economic goals to ultimately grow the sector.

“The Premier and I took to the election a commitment to return the department to being a trusted adviser to industry, not an inhibitor.
