A 14-year-old has faced court after a man awoke to the shock of his life while camping in Roma.
The teenager appeared in Roma Childrens Court on July 17, facing multiple charges.
He had previously pleaded guilty to four charges which related to offences committed on April 10, 2024, and on July 17, pleaded guilty to a further six unrelated charges.
The teenager has not been sentenced yet for any of the charges.
The 14-year-old first pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, and one count each of attempted unlawful use of motor vehicle and driving without due care and attention causing grievous bodily harm, on April 24, 2024.
An 18-year-old was the co-accused in those offences.
The pair stole two cars, including one that was hooked up to a caravan, on April 10, 2024.
At the time, a man was asleep in the caravan when the vehicle started moving, and was injured in his frantic escape.
A pre-sentence report had previously been ordered, but fresh charges of three breaches of bail conditions meant an addendum had to be ordered before the teenager could be sentenced.
On July 17, the 14-year-old also pleaded guilty to entering a dwelling with intent, stealing and possessing dangerous drugs, which related to offending in Wishart in August of 2022.
The 14-year-old’s representative, Calum Wood of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Legal Service, told the court the teen was planning to move to Rockhampton.
Mr Wood requested the matter be transferred to that jurisdiction.
The teenager is set to be sentenced in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on August 20.
