Roma has officially been voted as Queensland’s top tourism town in 2024’s Queensland Tourism Industry Council Awards.

After being short-listed by a panel of experts, voting was opened to the public to crown the state’s winner.

Roma competed in the Top Tourism Town category, for towns with more than 5000 people. The other towns in the category were Bowen, Rockhampton, and Redcliffe.

By winning this award, Roma is recognised as a must-visit destination in Queensland, and will go on to represent the state for a chance at the national award later this year.

Acting Mayor Cameron O’Neil said: “We are incredibly proud to be named Queensland’s Top Tourism Town, acknowledging our community’s hard work, welcoming nature and unique charm.”

“This is a testament to Roma’s commitment to providing visitors with a high-quality, unforgettable ‘country meets Outback’ experience,” Mr O’Neil said.

“Thank you to everyone who voted for Roma in the poll, and to the tens of thousands of visitors who voted with their feet, tyres and plane tickets by discovering the region for themselves.”
