A man has been charged and will face court after multiple police units swarmed a North Rockhampton street on Sunday morning after reports of an incident came in from members of the public.
Police were called to Kirby Street, Koongal, about 9.40am.
There were initial reports that a firearm was involved in the incident, however a Queensland Police Service spokesman said: “There were no firearm threats made to police, just to relieve that concern.
“There was no threat to public safety at the time.”
There is no suggestion any of the houses pictured here were involved in the incident.
The QPS spokesman said a man was taken into custody.
He said this incident was not related to an ongoing police homicide investigation after a man’s body was found with a gunshot wound to his neck on the Rockhampton Yeppoon Road in the early hours of Friday, November 17.
A 20-year-old man was charged with one count each of assaulting police and obstructing police.
He is due to face Rockhampton Magistrates Court on December 4.
