A man has been charged after he allegedly broke into a couple’s Berserker home and stole a number of items, including an urn of their baby son’s ashes.

A 32-year-old Rockhampton man was charged with one count of enter dwelling and commit.

Natasha Tacon and Braeden Carolan’s home was allegedly broken into while the family were out between 12.30pm and 3.15pm on July 15.

It’s alleged a number of items were stolen including their son’s ashes which were in an urn in a black velvet box, along with phone chargers, airpods, iPad, money, their daughter’s bracelet and SES medals.

Speaking with this publication, Natasha said Braeden had left for work about 12.40pm and she returned home at 3pm and saw the front door open and thought her partner had left the house unlocked.

When she went inside she saw cupboards open and items on the ground in bedrooms.

The urn of their baby boy was found in a dumpster at the Frenchville Sports Club the following day.

The 32-year-old man was remanded in custody after an initial court appearance on Monday with his matter adjourned to be mentioned again on August 5.
