A female in her teens has been transported to hospital with serious injuries following a crash between a vehicle and truck on the Bruce Highway, south of Gladstone, on Friday morning.

Emergency services responded to the crash at the turn off to Tannum Sands Rd, Benaraby, at 8.18am.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics treated three patients on scene, including one female in her teens with potentially serious injuries who was in the vehicle.

She said another female in her teens, who was also in the vehicle, was in a stable condition with a back injury.

The spokeswoman said the truck driver was also in a stable condition.

A QAS spokesman said both female patients were transported to Gladstone Hospital in stable conditions.

He said one of the teens had suffered serious head, back and pelvis injuries.

He said the truck driver did not require hospital transportation.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said they were using hydraulic machinery to cut one person out of a vehicle.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said police were on scene at the crash doing traffic control.

The crash is understood to not be blocking the road.

It is the third crash involving a truck on the Bruce Highway in the region over the past fortnight, two of which were fatal.

One crash claimed the life of a truck driver who was a new father, Dioneto Pereira de Souza, and another claimed the life of a young ute driver.

Then, last Friday, a ute and truck transporting 42.5 tonnes of ammonium nitrate collided north of Bororen, killing one the young utility driver and causing an explosion that resulted in the highway’s closure for days.
