Jackson William Barker, 28, was ordered by Magistrate Cameron Press on January 27 to stand trial in the Supreme Court following a committal hearing where a detective was questioned about the investigation involving a rifle Mr Barker allegedly supplied to Nicholas Adam Healy.

Defence barrister Scott Moon asked Detective Senior Constable Duncan Mahony if he had the rifle in question, which had been seized from Mr Healy, forensically examined.

Mr Healy has been charged in relation to an alleged break in at Fitzroy Towing, where he allegedly used a front-end loader to gain access to a holding yard and stole a Commodore which was awaiting forensic examination.

Detective Senior Constable Mahony told the court the rifle had been found in a bag and placed on a table and he believed the rifle would be too contaminated for a forensic examination as a result.

Mr Moon also asked the detective if he had anyone physically examined the firearm, which the detective responded ‘no’.

Mr Moon then asked if there was any investigation into the serial number on the firearm and if there was any evidence, other than Mr Healy’s word, that showed Mr Barker was the person who supplied it.

The detective told the court there was only Mr Healy’s word.

Mr Barker is accused of trafficking cocaine in Rockhampton between October 17, 2021, and May 14, 2022.

He is also accused of the following:
