The case of a Central Queensland meatworker accused of murdering his housemate is yet to go to trial, almost four years after he was charged.
Police allege Hamid Hussein, 36, caused the injuries which Amanullah Mohammad, 32, later died of in Rockhampton Hospital on January 30, 2021.
Mr Hussein’s matter was mentioned in the Supreme Court at Rockhampton on Tuesday, September 24.
Mr Hussein’s legal team told Justice Graeme Crow that further submissions had been sent to the Crown in recent days and there had been delays involving an interpreter.
“At the moment it remains a trial,” a member of Mr Hussein’s legal team said.
The defence team said a qualified interpreter would be needed to assist Mr Hussein at trial.
No plea has been entered.
The matter was adjourned to October 17 and Mr Hussein was remanded in custody.
