It wasn’t hard for police to find one Rockhampton man’s child abuse material – it was stuck to his walls and cupboard – but they still needed their reading glasses.

Gavin Lyle Woodley, 62, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton District Court on May 13 to one count of possessing child exploitation material.

Crown prosecutor Ryan Minuti said police executed a search warrant at Woodley’s address and found 13 adult porn items with hand written captions “variously describing or suggesting … sexual acts with children” which made up the child exploitation material.

Judge Jeff Clarke said the material was found on walls, cupboards and in a manilla folder with the defendant’s name on it.

“The pictures were of adults engaging in sexual acts, but the captions related to defilement of children and in your interest in that by referring to your name in some of them,” he said to Woodley.

Judge Clarke said Woodley told police he did not “author the sexual fantasy captions” and hadn’t “gotten around to getting rid of this stuff”.

“I don’t understand why any right-minded person wouldn’t take their time to get rid of this content,” he said.

Defence barrister Maree Willey said her client, a father of five and grandfather of two, was still supported by his family.

Woodley was fined $1500 with no conviction recorded.
