Yeppoon Railway Station transformed into new venue The Station 4703

A heritage-listed railway station has been reborn as a unique, “family friendly” entertainment venue and everything from the food offerings and micro-brewery linked bar to the opening date can now be revealed.

Yeppoon’s former railway station building has been transformed into a family friendly venue that promises to offer entertainment, great food and the “coldest beers in town”.

The heritage-listed railway site on James Street was decommissioned in 2004 with Livingstone Shire Council acquiring the site from the Queensland Government in 2021.

Livingstone Shire Council was successful in securing a $2.5 million grant from the Federal Government’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants program for the Station Quarter.

Yeppoon-based company Limestone Pacific tenanted the space, naming the venue The Station 4703.

After almost two years, Limestone Pacific directors Rob McElhenny and Carl Green’s vision of creating a community family friendly space is set to come to life this weekend.

“We are thrilled to finally see this development breathe life and start becoming the heartbeat of Yeppoon’s social scene,” Mr McElhenny said.

“With contemporary alfresco dining options, live music, versatile event spaces, station themed playground and a coffee shop (The Espresso 4703), every corner of the new premier setting is crafted to elevate the entertainment experience.”

The Station 4703 manager Dean Furber said he had worked at a lot of venues in Yeppoon but that this was “something special”.

“There are no clubs that have this space with a family friendly environment,” he said.

“We’ve got state of the art equipment, a pizza oven from Italy, some of the best chefs, which are hard to find.”

Mr Furber said patrons could expect a “family friendly vibe” while enjoying great food and the “coldest beers in town”.

“We support microbreweries,” he said.

“A lot of our beers on tap are independent.”

The Station 4703 is set to have its grand opening at 11am on Saturday, June 15.

Mr Furber said there would be something for everyone, with live music featuring five local artists and Jesse Morris Band and a performer doing balloon twisting for the kids.

Mr McElhenny said there would also be three local artists performing on Sunday.

“We really want to push Sunday sessions again in Yeppoon,” he said.

“We want to create a precinct.

“This end of town has been dead for quite a long time, so we are trying to reinvigorate it.

“It’s a family friendly place to come and hang out.

“Everything will always be open every day.”

Capricorn Enterprise chief executive officer Mary Carroll welcomed the opening of The Station 4703.

“Yeppoon’s thriving business landscape continues to evolve, showcasing our community’s resilience and entrepreneurial spirit,” she said.

“The opening of any new business brings excitement and opportunity, further solidifying the Capricorn Coast region as a dynamic destination for locals and visitors.”
